Despite heavy criticism about its overall design, Tesla Cybertruck appears to be getting more orders from the police force. A few days ago, we reported the order placed by the Dubai police force of the all-electric pickup truck to be added to its flashy police chase cars motor pool. Now, a new police department placed an order of 15 Tesla Cybertruck units to be used as its police cars.

A mayor in Mexico recently decided to order 15 units of Tesla Cybertruck to convert them into police vehicles. Mayor Adrián Esper Cárdenas of the city of Ciudad Valles, San Luis Potosí, was one of those who saw the potential of the Tesla Cybertruck to be local police and municipal vehicle. He recently placed a reservation of 15 units of Tesla Cybertruck, according to El Imperical.

Mayor Adrián Esper Cárdenas said they too a picture and they plan to send it to Tesla CEO Elon Musk to see if they could avail of any discount. The city mayor also mentioned that in order to reserve the 15 units, he used 30 thousand Mexican pesos, which is equivalent to a month's salary. He ordered 10 Dual Motor Tesla Cybertruck and five Tri-Motor Tesla Cybertrucks.

The city mayor believes that the efficient electric powertrain of the Tesla Cybertruck will help the city reduce its expenses in fleet emissions. But, the city is not the only one who wants to use the Tesla Cybertruck as police vehicles. Last month, the Dubai Police shared an image on its official Twitter account of the Tesla Cybertruck with the logo of the Dubai Police force just a few days after the Cybertruck was officially unveiled.

We are slowly seeing Tesla vehicles becoming popular with various police departments all over the world. The Fremont Police Department recently converted a used Tesla Model S into a patrol vehicle. The Luxemburg Police also transformed a couple of Tesla Model S sedans into patrol cars, but the largest fleet of Tesla police patrol vehicles is in Switzerland with about a dozen.

The Bargersville, Indiana, Police department earlier this year began updating its fleet to Tesla Model 3 vehicles. The police force computed the numbers and realized it is far less expensive to drive electric cars. Some police departments still prefer bigger vehicles, and the Tesla Cybertruck could be a rare all-electric truck very much capable of serving as a police vehicle.

The production of Tesla Cybertruck will start in 2021, and it will be available in the market in the late part of the same year.
