There is a new movie released on Netflix that has fans of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, wondering if she could still go back to acting. A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby, which dropped on the streaming platform on Dec. 5, features many similarities to the lives of Prince Harry and Meghan.
A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby is actually a follow up to the 2017 franchise that stars Rose McIver, as Amber, and Ben Lamb, as Prince Richard. It is about an ordinary American who falls in love with a European prince.
The movie isn't exactly based on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their names weren't even mentioned specifically. However, the storylines are quite familiar to anyone following Prince Harry and Meghan in the news.
In the movie, the royal pair did not want to know the gender of their baby the same way Prince Harry and Meghan also reportedly chose to keep it as a surprise. Like the Sussexes, Prince Richard and Amber also want their newborn to have normal life and be rid of trappings of royalty.
Hypno-birthing was also mentioned in the film, which has been such big topic for Meghan Markle. There were reports that the duchess was considering giving birth in water during her first pregnancy.
The fictional royal in the film was also into yoga. The Duchess of Sussex has been into yoga most of her life especially since her mother, Doria Ragland, is a yoga instructor. The TV queen also had a baby shower, like Meghan Markle, even if it is traditionally not a British activity.
McIver said in an interview with Glamour that the movie they did for Netflix was a nod and recognition for Prince Harry and Meghan. The actress believes that the timing was right to make a story about a young woman who joins the royal family and challenges the norms.
Meanwhile, reports from Woman's Day stated that Meghan has been quietly working with Reese Witherspoon in a new TV show. The story might have cropped up from when Witherspoon was in London to promote The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston.
Gossip Cop, however, debunked the rumor that said Meghan would return to acting in the small screen. According to the report, Meghan agreed to retire from acting because her royal duties as Prince Harry's wife will keep her more than busy.
