The royal family isn't openly expressing what they feel about Prince Andrew's latest controversy or the BBC interview he botched last month. Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, however, is reportedly horrified and disturbed especially since she works with female sex abuse victims.
Sources said that Prince Harry's wife was put off by the response of Prince Andrew in the interview with journalist Emily Maitlis, per Page Six. The Duchess of Sussex was quite uncomfortable watching his uncle-in-law say that sex for a guy is a positive act, and he cannot remember having had such an experience with the female accuser.
Virginia Roberts, also known as Virginia Guiffre, has come out to say that she is one of Jeffrey Epstein's victims. Epstein was once a good friend of Prince Andrew, and the royal frequented his place in New York.
The accuser said that when she was 17, she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew upon Epstein's orders. They also have a picture together as proof that they met, but the Duke of York said he could not remember the woman.
Meghan, however, has not spoken directly to the press about the Duke of York. But sources close to the duchess told The Telegraph that anyone who watched Prince Andrew's interview felt like they needed to crawl under the table as it became a train wreck.
Meanwhile, Meghan hasn't been in the headlines of late because she's currently on a six-week holiday to the United States, where there are no paparazzi and prying British tabloid press. According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quietly left London to spend Thanksgiving with Doria Ragland, Meghan's mom, in Los Angeles.
The Sussex family is going to stay over the pond until Christmas before they return to London to welcome the New Year. They won't be able to join Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royals for the traditional Christmas lunch in Sandringham.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan would not be with the royal family for the special holiday. The Queen gave them her blessings to celebrate Archie's first Christmas elsewhere, but in Sandringham, in the same way, that the rest of the royals also miss this traditional lunch. Some royal experts, however, think that Prince Harry and Meghan should have opted to spend Christmas with the Queen and Prince Philip since they are old and don't have enough time left.
