Is Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, the person writing the posts for Sussex Royal on Instagram? Their followers are quite convinced that it's the former American TV star behind the account and they have figured it out because of the very words used by Prince Harry's wife.
For the first day of December, Sussex Royal posted a heartfelt message on Instagram to show the 12 charities Prince Harry and Meghan are highlighting this Christmas. However, some royal followers were quick to point out that the caption was filled with words that sounded too American.
According to Daily Mail, the language used in the caption sounded like it was Meghan Markle speaking. She used the word "holidays" to refer the festive season when the British usually refer to it as simply Christmas.
Meghan also referred to "diapers" for nappies and "cribs" for cots. Her previous posts also used American rather than British spellings for words like "organization" (instead of organisation) or "programs" (instead of programmes).
Instagram followers of Sussex Royals posted their reactions to Meghan's post in the comments. Some corrected and criticized the duchess for the oversight considering that the Sussex Royals are representing the British family. The criticisms seemed to have overshadowed the purpose of the post though. Lost amid the negative reactions was Prince Harry and Meghan's intention.
The Sussexes wanted to highlight 12 charitable causes, inspired by the "12 Days of Christmas," which have been helping the homeless, the hungry and the lonely this Christmas season. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also urged their followers in comments to post a flag of their country and the organization they support since they want to highlight those making a difference in the lives of others around the world.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan are currently on their six-week holiday with their son Archie Harrison. Though it's unclear when the Sussex couple left for the United States, they won't be attending the dinner hosted by Queen Elizabeth for the NATO leaders led by U.S. President Donald Trump in London, per Time.
This means that this will be the second time Meghan Markle will miss being face-to-face with Trump. The last time Meghan was not around when the U.S. President visited London was in June because she was on maternity leave and couldn't perform her royal duties.
Prince Harry and Meghan won't also be celebrating Christmas with the royal family. Instead, they will be in the U.S. with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.
