Around 400 participants turned up during the Nepal-India-China Expo (NICE) in Nepal last week. A press release issued by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal chapter claimed that 60 tourism industry shareholders and operators from India also attended the event.

According to the Himalayan Times, the NICE event was set for representatives from Nepal. China and India to discuss in detail the mechanics and pertinent plans of the adventure tourism initiative. President of PATA Nepal Chapter Sunil Shakya revealed the details of the project and showcased a presentation about the Visit Nepal Year 2020 tourism campaign.

During the revelation, Shakya urged the Indian participants to extend their support to the Nepali government to help bring the project to greater heights. It was also revealed during the press statement that a program would be established to promote adventure tourism. The efforts from Indian and Nepali participants were labeled as crucial to the success of NICE and that their efforts would boost not only Nepal's tourism industry but also that of India and China as well.

The statement also highlighted that Nepali representatives have already shown their enthusiasm for the project. The report indicated that it is the participants' way of strengthening their tourism relations among stakeholders from all the signatory countries. It was added that the NICE project would promote the sustainable development of the tourism industries in all countries.

The expo also collaborated with the VNY2020 secretariat and Nepal Tourism Board in organizing the event. The said event would officially commence on February 22 up to February 25, 2020. The participants were ensured that the tourism and hospitality stakeholders from all the signatory countries and their discussions would be open to the public. It was also indicated that the private sector tourism players are also urged to participate in the NICE project.

The statement also mentioned that NICE would be a unified platform for Nepali, Indian, and Chinese tourism to engage in business with each other. The said project was said to strengthen the ties and open up business opportunities including the provision of inspired proposals for future tourism projects.

According to PATA's official website, NICE is the first tri-nation tourism expo that unifies the noble concept envisioned by the entity for tourism stakeholders and organizations from both the private and public sectors of the countries involved. The description explained that Nepal is geopolitically situated between the two giant economies of China and India and that the project would greatly contribute to the bridging of tourism development potentials of all the three countries.
