We already know that Natasha Romanoff isn't the only major Marvel character that will be returning in Black Widow next year. The new trailer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe film has already confirmed the return of Thaddeus Ross while there have been reports that Robert Downey Jr. will be back as a young Tony Stark. However, the new footage from the upcoming movie also teased on a major connection to another beloved MCU figure. It looks like Captain America will still play a huge role in Scarlett Johansson's solo Marvel flick.

The new footage was unveiled during the 2019 Comic-Con Experience where Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed some interesting new details about Black Widow. In one particular scene where Natasha Romanoff, Yelena Belova, and Alexei Shoskatov are involved in a crashed helicopter, Alexei begins asking Nat about Captain America. Red Guardian questions whether Steve Rogers told the Avengers war stories about him, but Nat doesn't engage the conversation. Alexei then comments that Cap is his "geopolitical adversary."

It's interesting to note that Red Guardian remembers Captain America and may have gone up against Steve Rogers in the past. However, it's also possible that Alexei Shoskatov didn't get to fight Cap and was merely curious about how the First Avenger was as a person. Hopefully, Alexei's comments will be explained further when Black Widow premieres next year.

The Captain America Easter Egg isn't the only awesome new thing that was revealed in the Black Widow footage from CCXP. It is also confirmed that Alexei Shoskatov and Melina Vostokoff were in a fake marriage in the past and that Yelena Belova may have been part of their made-up family. At one point, Melina even comments that Yelena has grown into a beautiful young woman, although she had a big nose as a child. In addition to that, there's an epic fight between Natasha Romanoff and Taskmaster, where the villain is wearing his hood.

Black Widow will bring back Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff and introduce Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Alexei Shoskatov aka Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff. The film is directed by Cate Shortland and will be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie after this year's Avengers: Endgame. However, it takes place in the events after Captain America: Civil War. It is scheduled for release on May 1, 2020.
