The plot of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is still a huge secret. However, a new clip from Star Wars Episode 9 may have confirmed that there will be an epic chase sequence involving the heroes and some First Order Stormtroopers. The brief footage is packed with action that looks like a tribute to the 2015 flick Mad Max: Fury Road. This is because of an awesome sequence where the Stormtroopers are flung into the air to catch up with Rey and her friends.

The Star Wars Episode 9 clip opens with a sweeping shot of a desert planet. It appears to be the same one that has already been shown in the trailers where Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Chewbacca, and C-3PO find what appears to be the remains of the second Death Star. As two speeders are shown speeding away, a Stormtrooper radios in his discovery. "We've spotted the fugitives," he tells his companions.

It isn't long before the First Order Stormtroopers give chase, shooting at the heroes as they gain on them. Rey and Chewbacca immediately shoot back to get rid of the chasers but they're in for a huge surprise. The Stormtroopers' speeder suddenly catapults them into the air and it is revealed that they now have jetpacks. Not surprisingly, C-3PO, Finn, and Poe Dameron are dumbstruck as they realize that, "They fly now."

It's an awesome sequence that teases on an awesome action scene with a bit of humor. It also confirms that the First Order has been busy coming up with upgrades for the Stormtroopers after the events in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. For now, it's unclear how the chase will end. Nevertheless, there is little doubt that there will be more action as the Stormtroopers try to catch up with the heroes.

The Stormtroopers are not the only ones who are in the same desert planet as the heroes. A Star Wars Episode 9 TV spot also teased on the arrival of the Knights of Ren at the same location and there is a possibility that they are joining the First Order in the search for the fugitives. This is welcome news for fans who have been hoping to see Kylo Ren's companions in action. Hopefully, the Knights of Ren will play a major role in The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will bring back Daisy Ridley as Rey, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker. The late Carrie Fisher will also appear as General Leia Organa through previously unused footage. Star Wars Episode 9 will hit theaters on Dec. 20.
