The four eldest offspring of President Donald Trump grew up in the public eye, but not his youngest son, Barron. The 13-year-old presidential son is rarely seen in public events with the president. This made many believe that Barron is closer to his mother, Melania, than his father.
The speculation about Trump's cold relationship with his youngest son grew after POTUS made an odd remark about Barron. During his recent talk about vaping, he talked about how his administration can't allow the youth to be affected by it. Then, he mentioned his wife's role in their decision to take action on the effects of vaping.
"Vaping has become very big business... But we can't allow people to get sick, and we can't have our youth be so affected... that's how the First Lady got involved. She's got a son - together... and she feels very, very strongly about it," he said.
Netizens immediately noticed how POTUS talks about Barron. He said that Barron was his wife's son before using the word "together." Netizens feel sorry for Barron, saying he should know by now how his siblings, Eric and Tiffany Trump, must be feeling.
Many have known that Melania has a close relationship with Barron. She has been very vocal about it as compared to the president.
In her past interview with Parenting, FLOTUS talked about how hands-on mother she is. She revealed that she was the one who changed Barron's diapers.
When Trump won the election in November 2016 and took office a couple of months later, Melania and Barron did not immediately move in at the White House. The mother and son decided to stay in New York City until Barron's school year was over. This means the former model spent five more months alone with her son.
Just recently, after Barron's name got dragged in the ongoing impeachment proceedings of Donald Trump, Melania did not hold back. She took to Twitter to slam Stanford law professor Pamela Karlan for making a joke involving her son.
"A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it," the First Lady tweeted.
President Trump did not issue a comment on the matter but retweeted his wife's comment. He also reposted several tweets of Republican politicians about Karlan's remark.
Despite the president's odd behavior towards his youngest child, Melania said her husband and Barron have a great relationship. She said the two always have a blast whenever they are together.
