The First Couple of the United States is rarely seen getting intimate in public. There were several instances that First Lady Melania Trump avoided any physical contact with her husband such as the infamous moment when she rejected POTUS's attempt to hold her hand during a trip to Israel in 2017.

Body language expert Patti Wood analyzed Donald and Melania Trump's body language since the real-estate mogul took office in 2016. In many instances, the couple, or at least Melania, avoided engaging in public displays of affection.

During the couple's trip to Israel in 2017, the video of Trump trying to hold the hand of Melania but he flicked his hand went viral. According to Wood, Melania's behavior is not a cry for help but rather her way of saying to her husband that he is disrespecting her in public. Wood explained that the way Trump reached Melania's hand is like a parent trying to get his child in line rather than being her husband.

Another instance is when the couple shook hands in a military event in 2017 instead of shaking a kiss in cheeks. Wood explained that the typical speech-handoff protocol at events like this is either to shake hands or do nothing.

But if you attended as a couple, you are expected to share a kiss. It was an awkward moment when the First Couple shook hands at the said event.

Despite the many instances of Melania avoiding getting intimate with the president during public appearances, Wood believed that the couple may still hold hands in private. She explained that the couple used to engage in PDA even in public before Trump runs for president. But that somehow changed when he won the elections and that is what the public sees now.

Meanwhile, Melania Trump is expected to be more affectionate towards her husband now that he is facing one of the most challenging times of his presidency. A source told HollywoodLife that FLOTUS tends to be more loving and warm towards Trump during the holiday season and when she feels POTUS is most under fire.

"They've always had this 'us against the world' mentality, and whenever Melania feels Donald is most under fire and attack is when she rallies and really comes through for him," the source said.

President Trump is currently facing an impeachment proceeding. He was also slammed recently for criticizing environmentalist and TIME's Person of the Year 2019 Greta Thunberg.
