America's Got Talent season 15 is coming this summer but without judges Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough as they left the NBC show after just one season due to several issues. Thus, two seats are now vacant and a recent report suggests that Modern Family star Sofia Vergara may fill one of those seats in the upcoming installment.
A report from TMZ claimed that NBC and Fremantle, which produces the show, met with Vergara on Wednesday as they eyeing on the actress to fill one of the vacant seats on the judges' panel in America's Got Talent season 15. They likely want her to give her the vacant spot in, considering that she's been on the television over the past years.
Yet, it's still up to Vergara whether or not she'll take on the gig. It's worth noting, however, her time on Modern Family is ending soon, so the actress will have some time to think about the offer. As per CarterMatt, America's Got Talent season 15 is a great opportunity for Vergara since she could show a different side of her personality.
In a related report, HollywoodLife noted that Heidi Klum and Alesha Dixon are the "top choices" to take over the empty seats since they're already judges in the spinoff series America's Got Talent: Champions. A source from the outlet said that the two women are on the top list to fill the spots on America's Got Talent season 15 and that the decisions will be made next year.
The source added NBC talked to Vergara, but nothing has been set or signed as of yet. Meanwhile, if Klum and Dixon's schedules are fine, then they'll probably join the new season. If not, they could still join the show in the future. The source further said the network will be talking to others, but for now, nothing is confirmed as to who will fill the vacant seats.
Meanwhile, Union and Hough left the show after being judges for just one season, and their exits weren't, reportedly, amicable. The two were involved in a major controversy, particularly the "toxic culture" they allegedly experienced while working on the show. Reportedly, producers gave aggressive comments about their appearance, with one critic said Union's hairstyle is "too black."
NBC and Fremantle released a statement about the issue, saying that they "remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees." The statement added they take seriously any questions regarding workplace culture. Union revealed she met with the network earlier this month and shared on Twitter she "hope for real change."
America's Got Talent season 15 will, reportedly, arriving in May/June 2020.
