Last Man Standing season 8 is arriving on Fox in the first week of 2020, and Kaitlyn Dever is set to come back in the upcoming installment. The actress, however, will only be seen in fewer episodes. The reason behind her less appearance in the Tim Allen-lead sitcom is due to her schedule.
In an interview with TVLine, show executive producer Kevin Abbott discussed Dever's fewer appearances in Last Man Standing season 8, noting that the actress "is just crazy busy." Abbott said Dever's Eve hasn't been back, but everyone talks to her.
So, they decided to get her on for a few appearances every season since she's still part of the family. Abbott noted they're now trying to get her back in the next cycle of three episodes in Last Man Standing season 8. However, they had to wait until February to shoot her in a new episode since she has a busy schedule.
Currently, Dever is considered as one of the biggest rising stars, thanks to her breakout role in Booksmart. Also, she recently received Golden Globe nomination for Unbelievable. The actress's career is heading to a new atmosphere and she'll probably have more projects in the future.
Last Man Standing season 8 is trying to bank more footage for Dever's character, but it still comes with its own fair share of challenges -- especially when it comes to the filming schedule. Although the actress will be seen in a few episodes, many were delighted as there's still a willingness for her to be a part of the show.
Dever was an original cast member when Last Man Standing debuted in 2011. However, the actress didn't return as series regular in 2018 when the show moved to Fox. Currently, the sitcom is well into production, with 14 out of 22 episodes it the can ahead of the premiere.
Of those episodes, Dever will only appear in the two-part premiere episodes. Last Man Standing season 8 will air on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, on Fox. And then starting Thursday, Jan. 23, the series will return to its one episode per week and run straight through May without a single repeat.
In a related report, there is also another familiar is set to return in the upcoming installment. Susan Sullivan is back this season, where she played the role of Vanessa's mom, Bonnie. She is a fun character; largely because Bonnie is different from anyone else in the series, and she'll appear in the third episode.
