In what seemed to be a rare event, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump held hands as they entered the Southern Baptist Convention-affiliated church. The First couple attended the service together for the Christmas Eve before they went to their private club in Palm Beach to celebrate the holiday.
Family Church pastor Jimmy Scroggins and his family greeted the Trumps as they attended the Candlelight Christmas Celebration. They then received a round of applause and cheers when they took their reserved seats in the third pew, per Time.
The clergy delivered brief sermons and readings that were filled with traditional Christmas songs in between. To complete the feature, there were also theatrical smokes and fake snows that filled the place. After the event, Donald Trump and Melania Trump went to the Christmas Eve dinner party in the ballroom of his private club.
According to Washington Times, Donald Trump and Melania Trump's arrival at the Family Church was a "change of pace" for the Trumps. They used to attend holiday services at Bethesda-by-the-Sea in the Episcopal Church in Palm Beach in the past. It was the same place where the two got married in 2005.
As they celebrated the holiday with their family in Florida, the POTUS and FLOTUS greeted all the Americans a Merry Christmas. "The president and I want to wish each and every American a very merry Christmas," the former model said in a video message, which was recorded at the White House earlier.
She continued to say that they also offered a "special prayer" for the military servicemen and women, who were far away from home for this special occasion to serve the nation. Melania Trump added that they renewed their hope for "peace among nations and joy to the world."
Donald Trump was said to be on his more than two weeks vacation. But, he never forgets to greet his people. In another video conference from his private club, he also greeted everyone with a fantastic Christmas. At the time, the group was composed of Marines in Afghanistan, an Army in Kuwait, a Navy ship in the Gulf of Aden, an Air Force based in Missouri, and a Coast Guard stationed in Alaska.
He then praised the armed forces for their work to help eliminate the Islamic State group's territorial caliphate and for managing to kill its leader, Abu Bark al-Baghdadi. He also touched the topic about the economic success at home and a raise for the troop's pay coming in the New Year. "You make it possible for us to do what we have to do," Donald Trump ended his message with an additional thank you for their public service.
