Queen Elizabeth did not visit her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh when he was recently hospitalized at King Edward III Hospital in London. Some royal fans questioned why it seemed so insensitive for Her Majesty to not see her husband, especially when he's supposed to be ill.

The last Friday before Christmas Day, Prince Philip was driven to the hospital to be assessed and then later treated for a pre-existing condition. He was confined for four nights upon the advice of the royal doctors who made sure that the Duke of Edinburgh was healthy enough to travel to Sandringham to join the royal family for Christmas.

While Prince Philip was in the hospital, Queen Elizabeth traveled by train to her country estate in Sandringham to prepare for the holiday festivities. She waited for her husband who was discharged from the hospital in the morning of Dec. 24.

Prince Philip was able to join his family just before they opened presents and shared a Christmas feast. However, he was not around when Queen Elizabeth and the royals walked to the nearby church to hear the service.

On Twitter, royal expert Victoria Arbiter explained the sensible reason behind Queen Elizabeth's choice to stay in Sandringham while her husband was getting treated in London. Apparently, it would cause a big disruption if Queen Elizabeth were to visit the hospital to be Prince Philip.

Royals, especially someone as high profile as the Queen, generally do not do hospital visits of their relatives because it's only sensible. Given the requirements of her security, her unplanned presence there might only be stressful for the other patients getting treatments.

Prince Philip is also not likely the kind of person who would like to be fussed about, especially by Her Majesty and their children. On the contrary, he would prefer that they continue what they do and get ready for the holidays.

As for Prince Philip's pre-existing condition, speculations are that it could be related to his hip operation at the same hospital in 2018. At that time, the Duke of Edinburgh was hospitalized for 10 days with only his daughter, Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, seen as the VIP visitor.

According to Daily Express, Princess Anne stayed for close to an hour and was happy to see her father in good form. Queen Elizabeth, on the other hand, received regular updates about her husband during his whole hospital stay.
