Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, was all alone for Christmas Day. The ex-wife of Prince Andrew, who is also called Fergie, is not complaining though, as she has been used to spending this holiday all by herself.

Her spokesperson confirmed via Daily Express that Fergie has been spending Christmas Day alone for the last 20 years just like Princess Diana. Her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, usually join Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royals in Sandringham on this special holiday.

In 2018, Fergie spent Christmas Day watching the movie "Ben-Hur" at home and then she turned to the news to see how her daughters were doing as they walked to church with Queen Elizabeth. Prohibited from joining royal events due to her divorce from Prince Andrew, Fergie expressed no ill-feelings about Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie joining the royal family for this holiday.

She said in an interview that Her Majesty adores her daughters so she's more than happy to share the princesses with their grandmother during Christmases in Sandringham and summers at Balmoral. Though she has been Prince Andrew's ex-wife for two decades, the Duke and Duchess of York remain good friends and have raised their grown girls together.

Speaking with Vogue Arabia, Fergie said that it's been hard for the girls and their family in the last six months of 2019 because of Prince Andrew's controversy. The Duchess of York said that it's tough to watch her ex-husband go through such an enormous pain because of his ties to the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Meanwhile, on Christmas Day 2019, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie walked to church in Sandringham without their father, who was keeping a low-profile to avoid attracting more media coverage. The sisters, however, had their respective partners walking next to them, as well as the rest of the royals like Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Edward and Lady Louise Windsor.

Princess Eugenie was with her husband Jack Brooksbank while Princess Beatrice's fiancé Edoardo Mozzi joined the royal family for the first time. According to the Daily Mail, the York sisters put on a brave face and smiled at the crowd waiting to see them for Christmas. The crowd also gave flowers to the royal sisters.

After Christmas, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie traveled to the Alpine alps with their mother for their annual New Year's celebration at the family's Swiss ski lodge. This year, however, Prince Andrew reportedly passed on the tradition. A friend of the Yorks said that the duke is still avoiding public attention.
