A royal commentator does not believe that Queen Elizabeth will step down from her throne amid rumors that the British monarchy is undergoing an 18-month transition beginning this year. Broadcaster Sherrie Hewson does not also think that Prince Charles will be King of England. She believes Queen Elizabeth will bypass her son in favor of her grandson, Prince William.
Hewson made these revelations while speaking with Jeremy Vine's TV program. She said that she doesn't see the Queen's abdication as a good idea since the public loves Queen Elizabeth, including those who do not consider themselves a royalist. For her, what's not broken must not be fixed and she doesn't see this current system in the monarchy as in need of a repair.
The commentator also said that Queen Elizabeth deserves to serve the monarchy for as long as she wishes. When the right time comes, however, Hewson thinks it will be Prince William who will sit on the throne after Queen Elizabeth and not his father.
Hewson, however, did not explain how her fearless forecast will come into play. But, like Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles won't likely abdicate if he does become the King of England.
Abdication has been seen as bad for the British monarchy after what happened to King Edward VIII. When he gave up his throne, he thrusted his brother King George, the Queen's father, to this unexpected task reluctantly.
Meanwhile, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams believes that Queen Elizabeth will not renounce the throne despite rumors that she will be stepping down in 18 months. What could be expected, however, is for Her Majesty to scale down her duties and pass some of the weight and decisions to Prince Charles and Prince William.
According to Daily Star, Prince William has been going to Clarence House, his father's official residence, in the last few years to attend meetings. These meetings are, apparently, conducted to prepare Prince William's takeover of the Duchy of Cornwall, his father's lucrative estate.
Prince Charles is, in fact, preparing Prince William to become the future Prince of Wales, In the process, the younger royal is also learning some new responsibilities as King of England slowly but surely.
Royal observers said that there will be a shorter time between Prince William's ascension as the Prince of Wales and the King of England. Thus, he will need to learn the ropes now as the time for him to become a monarch could be coming sooner than later. He will not be waiting for this chance in 60 years just like Prince Charles.
