Tesla Cybertruck stole the Los Angeles Auto Show last year. The sci-fi futuristic and polarizing design of the all-electric pickup truck from the US electric vehicle maker surprised the world. While the Cybertruck has its own share of critics, it appears that its unique design was recognized by Automobile Magazine, which named it as the Concept Car of the Year.

For Automobile Magazine, the basic concept of the Tesla Cybertruck is so distinct that it was easily named as the Best Concept Car for 2019. The design of the all-electric pickup truck from Tesla was inspired by the designs of Syd Mead in the film "Blade Runner." Until now, the design is criticized for its XY design.

Despite this, the Tesla Cybertruck generated a lot of interest and fueled at least 250,000 pre-orders just a few days after its official unveiling. "Some critiques we read in the first few hours after its initial reveal suggested it to be a manifestation of unimaginative brutality, crude, ugly, and totally impractical. It is certainly different from traditional pickups, which apart from size have not really changed in concept in 100 years," the publication states.

Automobile Magazine also notes, "Is it better than the tens of millions of pickups made during the past century? That remains to be seen, but as a concept vehicle, it's both exciting and profoundly interesting," the publication adds. Someone who fails to acknowledge the unique structure and calls the pickup truck as brutal shows a 'complete lack of comprehension as to how subtle and intelligent the designers of the Cybertruck were in crafting even its outer skin,' Cumberford says.

The publication also underlines how the Tesla Cybertruck sports a plethora of practical features like the adaptive suspension, which makes it easier for the vehicle to load and unload cargo. The off-road capabilities of the Tesla Cybertruck are also considered its significant strengths. This recognition puts the Tesla Cybertruck in the same rank as its older siblings, like the Tesla Model 3, which has been receiving recognition and praises because of its price, practicality, and performance.

The Tesla Cybertruck recently stars in a rap music video (which is, by the way, a genius way of promoting the Cybertruck), along with its companion the Tesla all-electric Cyberquad ATV and Musk's Not-A-Flamethrower. The all-electric pickup truck from Tesla will enter production at the tail end of 2021. The Tesla Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD and Tri-Motor AWD models retail at $49,990 and $69,990, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Tesla Cybertruck Single Motor RWD will enter production in 2022 and will retail at $39,990. Various high profile personalities, government institutions, and law enforcement agencies have already placed their pre-orders for the Tesla Cybertruck.
