Big Hit has released the first trailer for BTS' comeback album "Map of the Soul: 7" featuring Suga's solo track, Interlude: Shadow. The teaser track marked an epic kick-off to BTS' much anticipated new material after it received rave reviews from music critics.

According to Billboard, Suga's Interlude: Shadow was an evocative brash track that was characteristic of the artist, whose reputation for writing and producing songs that promote deep reflection and profound thoughts, earned recognition from entertainment pundits and fans alike.

"The star ruminates on fame, what he wants to be, and how he struggles to be himself while simultaneously seeking stardom, with the highs and lows of each growing alongside one another," the review noted.

Suga's track was also lauded for its deep meaning and symbolisms as the trailer highlighted the constant flashes of camera phones as Suga disappears. The lyrics also hinted at the inner turmoil that artists experience as they are placed under the spotlight while dealing with their inner darkness as a price to their fame.

Suga's Interlude: Shadow is expected to be the first of teaser trailers that feature individual BTS members leading up to the series of events Big Hit Entertainment has planned ahead of the BTS Map of the Soul:7 release on February 21.

Apart from the teaser trailers, BTS will also release its Connect series which will kick off with Connect, BTS Online and Connect, BTS: London on January 14. Berlin will come a day after. Connect, BTS: Buenos Aires and Seoul will happen on January 28 while New York will have its turn on February 4.

The first single of the album will drop on January 17 and it will come out together with an art film by the MN Dance Company. Meanwhile, concept photos for the individual members will be released a week ahead of the Map of the Soul:7 album drop.

Big Hit also pulled all the stops for the album release because it will also release a Kinetic Manifesto Film: Coma Prima as a special treat to the fans. The MV for the title track, however, will have to wait until February 28 before it is released.

As early as January 9, Big Hit Entertainment already opened pre-orders for BTS' comeback album as it is expected that the new album will pull in record numbers.

In 2019, BTS' Map of the Soul: Persona was declared by the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest selling album of all time. It remains to be seen if RM, J-Hope, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook will be able to break their record with their new album.
