Members of the royal family were reportedly on a crisis talk after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their resignation as senior royals. In the celebration of Kate Middleton's 38th birthday at Kensington Palace, there seemed to be a discussion over the Sussexes' plan, overshadowing the Duchess of Cambridge's special day.
The future queen consort was spotted arriving at Kensington Palace, along with other members of the royal family, like Princess Eugenie. Although they were all there to celebrate the birthday of Prince William's wife, it was believed to be turning into a gathering that would mostly talk about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's announcement.
According to Daily Mail, the members of the royal family were expected to hold crisis talks after the big announcement. However, it wasn't clear if Queen Elizabeth II would attend the discussion, knowing that she would stay in Sandringham until Feb. 6, but she reportedly made a call.
However, there were rumors that the Monarch was dismayed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's statement. Prince William and Prince Charles, on the other hand, were allegedly "incandescent with rage" for learning about the Sussexes' plan only 10 minutes before the lengthy Instagram post was published.
Also, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly snubbed Queen Elizabeth's advice to tell her heir, Prince Charles, about their plans before they proceeded and talked to her. They seemed to disregard her request and went ahead with their decision. A senior royal source claimed that it left Her Majesty "deeply disappointed" and other members of the royal family "shocked, saddened, and downright furious" after they made their announcement, per Express.
The Sun noted that Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William were "locked in crisis talks" with Prince Harry to grant their request. Their teams reportedly worked to give Meghan Markle and her husband the separation from the royal family that they wanted as soon as possible.
In fact, a Buckingham Palace source revealed that it would only take days for the split to take effect. Queen Elizabeth reportedly led the meeting and dialed the four households' numbers to put Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry on a call with her from Sandringham.
This event overshadowed Kate Middleton's 38th birthday celebration. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took the world by storm when they announced they would step back from their senior royal duties and be financially independent, but there were reports that they would take money from Prince Charles' Duchy of Cornwall Estate. Anyhow, they promised that they would continuously support Queen Elizabeth.
