Michelle Obama threw shades on her predecessor at the White House, Melania Trump, on not just one occasion. Most of those instances were during interviews, which some think the former First Lady should haven't done.
When Michelle released her memoir, Becoming, in November 2018, she had several interviews wherein she was asked about the current First Lady of the United States. In another interview with ABC News anchor Robin Roberts, Michelle was also asked if Melania has reached out to the Obamas. Mrs. Obama said Mrs. Trump hasn't.
Roberts' query was based on the fact that in Michelle's book, she wrote a passage explaining how her predecessor, Laura Bush, had extended help to her when she first stepped in the White House as the new FLOTUS. In turn, Michelle said she did the same for Melania, but the First Lady has yet to call her.
That was not the first and last interview that Michelle Obama had during her book tour in which she was asked about Melania Trump. Around the same time, Michelle also suggested that Melania should stop being self-obsessed.
During an appearance at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host asked the ex-FLOTUS if she could empathize with Melania when the latter claimed that she is "the world's most bullied women" in the world. Michelle bluntly said she couldn't, before adding that when she was the First Lady of the United States, she has learned not to take herself seriously.
Then there was in an interview with on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. During her appearance at the show, Fallon showed Michelle a photo of her and former President Barack Obama during Donald Trump's inauguration in January 2017 boarding Air Force One for the last time. Michelle interrupted Fallon and said, "Bye Felicia!" to which the host and his audience laughed.
This is the interview to which English journalist Piers Morgan expressed his disappointment with Mrs. Obama. Morgan said Michelle attacked Melania to sell her new book. He called Michelle's move a "cheap, tacky shot" at President Trump's wife.
Morgan said Michelle is a brilliant woman, so she should have known that "Felicia" is a very similar phonetic name to "Melania." Morgan added that Michelle also crunched her face when she talked about the expensive picture frame in Tiffany's box that the current First Family gave to the Obamas during the inauguration day.
The most recent event that many believe Michelle Obama threw shade on Melania Trump once again was when the former First Lady posted encouraging words for Greta Thunberg on Twitter. It was the time when President Donald Trump attacked the 16-year-old climate activist after she was named as People Magazine's Person of the Year while Melania kept mum over her husband's bullying.
