Prince William, Kate Middleton, and most of the royal family members usually use social media to update everyone regarding their trips, projects, greetings, and more. But, sometimes, they use the popular platforms to share some sad news as well.

The Duke of Cambridge took to Instagram to pay his respects to the people of Oman and condolences to the family of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said. The 79-year-old fourteenth-generation descendant of the founder of the House of Al Said passed away on Jan. 10. He was the longest-serving leader in the Middle East and Arab world at the time of his death.

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said,” Prince William wrote. “I was truly honored to spend time with His Majesty during my visit to Oman last month. It was clear from all those I met that he will be remembered with great affection.”

Prince William, then, praised His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said’s dedication to his people. He also thanked him for his friendship.

“His Majesty was unwavering in his commitment to improve the lives of his people, and in his resolve to work towards regional stability. I am thankful for His Majesty’s many years of friendship with my family and the UK,” the Duke of Cambridge continued. “I offer my heartfelt condolences to the Omani people, and wish to send a personal message of friendship as Oman mourns the death of His Majesty.“

Prince William’s message became even more meaningful as it was posted days before he met up with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince Harry to discuss the crisis within the royal family. The Duke of Cambridge’s post revealed how much he appreciated His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said’s loyalty to his people while his younger brother is slowly turning his back on his title.

Last week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world when they announced that they would want to step down from being senior royals. They also shared that they aim to be “financially independent.”

A report then claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to have a tell-all interview that will put pressure on Queen Elizabeth. British journalist, novelist, and a close friend of the Duke of Sussex, Tom Bradby, then, revealed that the royal couple may release an interview if Her Majesty doesn’t give in to their demands.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the Buckingham Palace have not addressed this matter as of this writing.
