Prince Harry shared a new update on the Sussexes' official Instagram account, and some said its background music carried a subliminal message. Although the Duke of Sussex reportedly snubbed the questions about the royal exit, he flashed a huge smile in what believed to be his first and last royal engagement after they announced their plan to step down as senior royals.
Meghan Markle's husband hosted the Rugby League World Cup 2021 draw at Buckingham Palace and shared a couple of videos of him on Instagram. The clip used the song of The Stone Roses' "This is the One," and many believed it was a nod to his impending exit.
The song has the lyrics, "I'd like to leave the country for a month of Sundays. Burn the town I was born ... Burn me out or bring me home." Page Six noted that the band's classic is also meant for a loved one, which seemed to be a hint that she would do everything for his wife.
"A girl consumed by fire, we all know her desire - from the plans that she has made, I had her on a promise," the lyrics read. With all the plans he had made, the song said it was the one, which might pertain to their decision to leave their royal duties.
In the clip, Prince Harry turned around to show a massive smile before he entered the palace room to face the cameras. The behind-the-scenes clip also revealed he smiled and laughed with the officials at the event.
However, Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer revealed that Prince Harry ignored questions from the press about the result of the discussions of his and Meghan Markle's future at the event. His grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, is believed to be mediating talks between the senior members of the royal family and her grandson.
In a statement from the Queen, she said that she and the rest of the royal family support Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision. She also asked the senior staffer to create a solution that would avoid some issues that might arise after the Duke and Duchess' exit.
Anyhow, royal author Tina Brown believed that Queen Elizabeth is "desperately trying" to make sure that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can return to their seats if they want to. She told BBC Radio 4 that Her Majesty allegedly wanted to keep the doors open for Prince William's brother.
