Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn did not only spent Christmas together but New Year's Day as well. It was revealed that before the couple attended the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles earlier this month, they spent a romantic getaway in a resort in the Maldives.

Swift and Alwyn welcomed the new year in a different time zone. It was revealed that the couple sneaked out of the country along with some close friends to spend the holiday in a private resort in the Indian Ocean.

British singer Matthew Crane revealed on Instagram that he sang for the couple and their friends on New Year's Day eve. Crane said the pair was very friendly and kind to him and also complimented his voice.

Crane told E! News that he began his performance at the beach in front of the other guests of a resort in the Maldives. Later on, the other guests left for the main event, which was on the other side of the island. Then, Taylor's group arrived. They were the last to arrive so his performance for them was very intimate.

Crane also told HollywoodLife that Swift and Alwyn even gave him a standing ovation when he sang his last song for the night, "Let Me Try Again" by Frank Sinatra. He also shared what it looked like at the couple's table while they were waiting for the clock to strike midnight. He said the "Lover" singer and Alwyn looked "very much in love" with each other.

"They were holding hands, laughing, chatting, sometimes looked at each other lovingly and appeared very much in love," he said.

Swift and the English actor have been keeping their three-year romance very private. They are rarely seen in public events. The couple's most public appearance so far is when they attended the Golden Globes earlier this month.

The couple showed some PDA moments at the award show. During the CAA Golden Globes after-party, they were even spotted kissing multiple times.

The "Shake It Off" hitmaker was nominated for Best Original Song for "Beautiful Ghosts" of the movie Cats. Unfortunately, she lost to Elton John and Bernie Taupin's "I'm Gonna Love Me Again" for the movie Rocketman. Nonetheless, Taylor still welcomed 2020 with a smile.

Meanwhile, Netflix has dropped the promotional poster for Taylor's upcoming documentary, Miss Americana. The docu-film will be available on Netflix and on select theatres on January 31, 2020, after its Sundance premiere on January 23.
