The godparents of Archie Harrison, the son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have now been revealed. Nearly six months since the baby's baptism details were kept private, it can now be told that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose Prince Harry's former nanny and guardian as Archie's godparents.

According to Daily Express, Prince Harry and his wife asked Tiggy Pettifer and Mark Dyer to be an integral part of Archie's baptism in July 2019. Pettifer is Prince Harry and Prince William's nanny while Dyer is their guardian. Both were tasked to look after Princess Diana's boys following her death.

Pettifer took care of Prince Harry and Prince William from 1993 to 1999. The boys saw her as the mother figure after they lost their own mom in 1997. Now married and raising her own kids, the nanny remains very close to Prince Harry and Prince William. In fact, her son was actually the page boy at Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan in May 2018.

Dyer, on the other hand, was more than just a guardian to Prince Harry and Prince William. He also took on the role as adviser and was regarded as their second father. He worked as an equerry for Prince Charles in the early '90s and was asked by the Prince of Wales himself to help look after his sons.

Aside from Pettifer and Dyer, Charlie van Straubenzee was also named as the other godparent of Archie. He is a close family friend of both Prince Harry and Prince William and served as an usher during Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding.

The identities of Archie's godparents have been revealed following Buckingham Palace's announcement that Prince Harry and Meghan will no longer use His or Her Royal Highness titles. Though they will still be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the pair will no longer officially represent the Queen as members of the royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan will no longer perform their royal duties and the Queen has given them the permission to start earning their income as private individuals. The Sussex family will also be spending most of their time in Canada and the U.S. to raise their son awayfrom the prying eyes of the media.

According to Daily Express, this means that Archie will not have regular contacts with his godparents nor Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family. Prince Harry expressed that he is sad over the final decision by Her Majesty. However, after months of talks over their struggles as public figures, he and Meghan can finally move forward with their private life.
