Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving to Canada and giving up their royal life. In the wake of this transition, they will no longer be called His/Her Royal Highness. In essence, Prince Harry takes a new title similar to his mother Princess Diana.

According to Daily Express, Princess Diana was formally known as Diana, the Princess of Wales, following her divorce to Prince Charles. Since she was no longer a senior working member of the royal family, Queen Elizabeth stripped her off the HRH title. She was previously called HRH Lady Diana Spencer, the Princess of Wales.

Over two decades later, his son and his wife received the same fate. Instead of being formally referred to as HRH The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the pair will be now be known as simply Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

This change will formally take place in spring 2020, when Prince Harry and Meghan start their new life as private citizens in Canada with their son Archie. After the Queen's announcement of this shift in his life, Prince Harry expressed great sadness in a speech during what might be one of his last few royal engagements.

Prince Harry also said that they, initially, hoped as a couple to keep serving Queen Elizabeth, the commonwealth and the military. However, since they also wanted to do away with public funding, the arrangement was complicated and impossible to deliver.

Queen Elizabeth's grandson said that he has accepted his new fate. He said he had to give up the life he has ever known to live a peaceful life away from the media with his wife and child.

In October, Prince Harry and Meghan said that they have been struggling to deal with the media scrutiny of their royal lives. However, the media is always essential to the work they do as the royal family's charities thrive on publicity.

Prince Harry and Meghan filed court against three media outlets that they claimed wrote skewered reports, particularly about the Duchess of Sussex. The cases are currently pending in the U.K. courts.

In deciding to move to Canada and withdraw from royal life, Prince Harry said that he's making the decision for his son's future. Prince Harry and Meghan have always wanted their son Archie to grow up without the trappings of being a royal.
