Kate Middleton was ready to dazzle the guests at Buckingham Palace for the UK-Africa Invest Summit. The Duchess of Cambridge sparkled in a gorgeous red dress as she and Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, represented Queen Elizabeth at the royal event.

According to Daily Mail, Kate wore a £410 glittering red gown from Needle & Thread, which she paired with a pair of £510 Gianvito Rossi red heels. The duchess coordinated her outfit with dangling ruby red earrings and completed the look with a tiny red handbag.

Prince William, on the other hand, wore a smart navy suit with a red tie to match his wife's wardrobe ensemble. Together, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed 21 members of the African delegation.

The second in line to the British throne said in his speech during the summit that Africa has a special place in his heart. His father, Prince Charles, took him and Prince Harry to this region shortly after losing their mom, Princess Diana. Prince William also said that he proposed to his wife in Kenya.

The Cambridges had the support of other members of the royal family. Princess Anne, Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, the Countess of Wessex were also at the Buckingham Palace reception. Incidentally, Sophie, who was also wearing a red dress, marked her 55th birthday today.

Queen Elizabeth wasn't at the reception as she won't depart from her country home in Sandringham until the first week of February. Prince Harry was briefly at the summit to have private meetings with some of the delegates. However, he took an afternoon flight to Vancouver to reunite with his wife, Meghan, and son, Archie, per The Sun

Prince Harry, recently, expressed what he really feels after the Queen announced they will no longer be representing her at royal engagements. The duke wanted to make it clear that they didn't want to walk away from their royal duties but they wanted to continue serving the Queen without access to public funding.

However, as the Queen made it clear this was not possible, Prince Harry said he and Meghan had no option. He said that he has accepted the decision but it won't change his commitment to have a more peaceful life away from the royal spotlight while still serving their private charities. Prince Harry, Meghan and their son Archie are also going to live in Canada, while still keeping Frogmore Cottage as their home in London if they are in town.
