RM is the leader of the biggest boy band on the planet right now. That being said, the 25-year-old rapper, songwriter, and record producer and the rest of the BTS members are some of the busiest people in the entertainment world.
However, just because BTS jumps from one place to another and meets new people every single day, it doesn’t mean that they don’t want to hang out with their old friends anymore. RM previously revealed that he wanted to keep in touch with his pals, but they have stopped communicating with him.
In a previous 2017 live broadcast, RM shared the real reason why his pre-BTS friends didn’t keep in touch with him as often as he’d like. While it’s easy to conclude that his pals are not his real friends for not reaching out to RM, the reason behind their decision is actually very heartwarming.
“I have a few friends with whom I got back in touch recently. I reached out to them first and asked how come they didn’t try to contact me,” RM said. “They told me it became harder for them to reach out to me because once I became slightly more famous, they didn’t want me to think that they’re only keeping in touch with me to use me for my fame. They didn’t want to be that friend.”
That’s when RM understood his friends’ side and realized that he should be the one to make a move if he wanted to hang out with them.
“I didn’t know they had become hesitant to call me when they wanted to keep in touch with me,” he continued. “I was grateful for that, and I also felt horrible about it. It made me realize that I should always reach out first.”
RM then made his experience with his friends as an example to ARMYs. The BTS leader told the fans to not be afraid to make the first move. If you miss your friend, then the best thing you’ll do is to contact them.
“If you have friends that you miss, reach out first,” RM shared. “It’s not easy being the one to make that out-of-the-blue call or send that first message, but that is all it takes, one call, to bring back good people back into your life!”
If RM, who is one of the busiest people in the world right now, managed to find time for the sake of friendship, then it can be done by anyone.
