Prince Charles was not aware that Prince Harry and Meghan would be going public about their plans to step back from the royal family. The Prince of Wales was said to be "incandescent with rage" and felt that he was stabbed in the back by his son and daughter-in-law.
According to a Daily Express source, Prince Charles did not appreciate the level of deceit that went on when Prince Harry and Meghan announced their plans to be divide their time between the U.K. and North America, as well as rescind their public funding. But, the Prince of Wales was, reportedly, really angry because it seemed Prince Harry and Meghan wanted to have the cake and eat it, too.
Apparently, Prince Harry and Meghan expected to be able to keep the perks of being in the royal family even as they said that they would like to scale down on their duties. The source said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to keep their security details and the staff at Frogmore Cottage, which has been causing a big problem in terms of accountability.
Meanwhile, Prince Charles will, reportedly, fund Prince Harry and Meghan's first year out of the royal family. The Prince of Wales has an extensive private income from the Duchy of Cornwall, which actually funds 95 percent of the lifestyle of his sons, their wives and their children.
According to Page Six, this fund will not be an inexhaustible source. Hence, Prince Harry and Meghan will have to find ways of earning money. Their deal with Buckingham Palace will be reviewed after a year.
For now, the biggest problem being worked out from this deal is the security details for the Sussexes in Canada. A source told Page Six that this is still being worked out but it's causing such a big inconvenience.
Prince Harry, Meghan and Archie's security needs to be locally provided and paid for by the local government. However, Canadian taxpayers expressed their opposition for this arrangement.
According to analysts, the Canadians aren't as eager and jubilant about the royal family even as a Commonwealth country that recognizes Queen Elizabeth as their monarch. Even the royalists group the Monarchist League of Canada warned Prince Harry and Meghan that they lost public support because of their disrespect for Queen Elizabeth. The group said that the Sussexes are welcome to visit their country but they should not be allowed to stay.
