Prince Harry, apparently, regrets that he and his wife Meghan Markle seemingly blindsided Queen Elizabeth. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reportedly, did not consult Her Majesty about making their plans public to step down as senior royals.

An insider claimed via The Telegraph that Prince Harry did not completely see the impact of their shocking announcement, made last Wednesday, Jan. 8, towards the Queen. Thus, the grandson now regrets the way he and his wife made the Queen feel.

On Monday, Jan. 13, Prince Harry was at Sandringham to see Queen Elizabeth, who summoned the duke, his brother Prince William and their father Prince Charles, for a crisis meeting. According to reports, the Duke of Sussex slipped into the rear entrance of the Queen's country just before noon. The grandson and the grandmother reportedly had lunch together before Prince William and Prince Charles arrived at a little before 2:00 p.m.

The crisis meeting with the four royals then took place for two and a half hours. After their talk, Queen Elizabeth released a personal but official statement to say that she is supporting Prince Harry and Meghan's transition into their new roles.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex asked to be released from the Sovereign Grant as well as the royal rota. They want to start their new life with financial independence, while dividing their time between London and Canada.

Details emerged that before Prince Harry and Meghan published their intention to carve out a new path, via their website, they actually asked for an audience with Queen Elizabeth. Sources said, however, that royal courtiers blocked the couple from meeting their grandmother.

Prince Harry and Meghan also got wind that their plans to step down was being leaked to the press. To prevent the press from putting the story out first, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to announce and publish the details of their plans without talking to the Queen.

A week after the crisis, Prince Harry and Meghan are going ahead with their new life. Queen Elizabeth also ordered the royal offices, as well as the governments of the U.K. and Canada, to start making arrangements for the Sussex's transition.

Meghan is, currently, in Canada with their son, Archie Harrison. Reports stated that she has no return ticket to London for now and her social calendar has no scheduled events. It's believed that Prince Harry will join his family after his royal duties until Jan. 16.
