On Wednesday, Jan. 9, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed to the world that they will be stepping down as senior royals. They also released the full details of their role changes in the royal family on their official website.

An insider, however, said that the Sussex royals rushed the release of their statement for one reason. Prince Harry, apparently, feared that his wife will have a meltdown so he needed to take action as soon as possible.

The source also stated that Meghan has never settled in their way of life in the U.K. Thus, Prince Harry thought his wife would be unhappy if she stayed in London longer.

A few days after returning from their six-week holiday abroad, Meghan boarded a budget commercial flight to Canada again. She's now back in Vancouver with their son, Archie Harrison, who actually stayed behind with the nanny and one of Meghan's best friends.

However, royal reporter Omid Scobie had a different story on why Prince Harry and Meghan rushed the announcement of their plans to step back from their royal duties. They made the statement in public even after Queen Elizabeth told them not to issue anything yet since their discussions have been in early stages.

Apparently, over the holidays, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had a series of talks with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Prince William about their planned new life. Prince Harry was told to put these ideas into writing but he feared that it would leak to the press.

Scobie said that their agenda indeed found its way at the hands of the tabloid press, which was ready to write their story about their intended semi-retirement. Prince Harry felt that he was backed into a corner and had no choice but to jump the gun before the tabloids printed the report.

Meanwhile, Daily Mail reported that Meghan has no return flight to London for now. She also has no engagement scheduled in her social calendar. Prince Harry still has a royal event to attend to on Jan. 16. After that, he will likely fly to Canada as well and join his wife and son.

The Sussex pair made this long-term plan to divide their time between Canada and London even before they took their holiday break in November. Sources said that the couple brought their dogs with them in Canada.

After holding a crisis talk to settle this matter with Prince Harry and Meghan, Queen Elizabeth issued a statement saying that she supports their decision, including their desire to become financially independent. Arrangements are now being done to accommodate the wishes of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
