“BTS deserves better!” — that’s what ARMYs are currently demanding. A behind the scene footage from the 2020 Grammy Awards rehearsal showed RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook being back-up singers to foreign artists Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, and this is not what fans are expecting to see,

When it was announced that BTS would be attending and performing at the Grammys, ARMYs were extremely happy for the boys. RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are world-class performers, so fans are excited to see what they have in store for the annual event. BTS also has a new single, “Black Swan,” which fans are hoping for them to perform on the show.

However, ARMYs’ excitement quickly turned into anger when they saw the Grammys rehearsal footage where BTS was treated like back-up singers of Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus. While the two foreign artists were singing up front, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were placed at a rotating stage platform at the back — this didn’t sit well with ARMYs.

“I’m not even sorry to say this but BTS is on a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL THEN THIS F*CKING INDUSTRY. Man, I tried my best to be supportive of them performing bc it was their dream BUT THE WAY THEY WERE PLAYED DIRTY,” one wrote. “I thought BTS will gonna have a solo performance cause you already put them on the Grammy Performers List. BUT WHAT IS THIS? B*tch, they ain't back-ups,” another one tweeted. “This is singlehandedly the most embarrassing and disrespectful thing the westerns have done to BTS,” one ARMY noted.

Many pointed out that BTS is the biggest boy band in the world right now, so they deserve a solo stage, and not as back-up singers. Also, fans are upset that it appeared like the 2020 Grammy Awards is just using RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook for views.

“BTS is NOT your free ticket to millions of viewers. BTS is NOT your backup dancers. BTS is NOT some group whose fame will die down in a year or two. BTS ARE talented performers with amazing capabilities, allow them to be that,” one angry fan wrote.

However, it is worth noting that the behind the scene footage was less than 10 seconds. There is still a chance that Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus will leave the stage after their song to make way for BTS.

For now, it’s still too early to tell. But there’s still hope that BTS will be performing as a solo act at the Grammys on January 26, Sunday.
