Prince Andrew's scandal still lingers in the monarchy and puts pressure on the younger royals. Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle should reportedly do more now that the Duke of York stepped back from his royal duties already. Since Sarah Ferguson's former husband left his public life, it is widely believed that the younger royals should step up their roles in the royal family.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said Prince Andrew's scandal last year continuously puts pressure on the younger royals to do much more. "With Andrew in disgrace, his patronages will undoubtedly want others to manage them or be linked to them," he told Express.

Prince Andrew has about 230 patronages. Now that he vacated his seat, the pressure would be on the Cambridges and Sussexes to do his works. However, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's exit, it remains to be seen if they will want to continue what their uncle left off.

To recall, Prince Andrew received huge backlash when he gave an interview about his relationship with the convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and the sexual assault allegations made against him. He, repeatedly, denied the accusations that he slept with a woman named Virginia Roberts, who said she was ordered to have sex with him at the young age of 17. With these ordeals, he was forced to step back from his royal duties and public life for the "foreseeable future."

Talking to the fellow royal expert Victoria Arbiter on the Heirpod podcast, Fitzwilliams said that Prince Andrew's removal from his seat and Queen Elizabeth II's advancing years were the reasons why there would be more pressure on younger generations of royals. The New Year would be a lot busier for everyone now that Andrew is out of the picture. With the loss of one member of the royal family, the workload increases.

Kate Middleton, already, took over as the new patron of the charity Family Action, which Queen Elizabeth held for 65 years. She also replaced Her Majesty's 67 years of leadership as the patron of the Royal Photographic Society. "As the Queen steps back, the younger royals having to step forward and put in a lot more work," Arbiter said, per MSN.

However, just like Prince Andrew, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle step down as senior members of the royal family. Queen Elizabeth gave them her blessing, but with a few caveats after the emergency crisis talks at Sandringham.

Kate Middleton and Prince William, on the other hand, received praise from Fitzwilliams. They are continuously rising, and they'll be doing more and more royal works. Compared to other members of the royal family, the Cambridges had a good 2019.
