When the time right comes, Prince Charles will become the King of England. If his mother, Queen Elizabeth, passes away or abdicates her royal duties, the heir to the throne will ascend and rule Great Britain and the Commonwealth countries as King George VII.

According to Daily Star, Prince Charles is choosing to adopt the name King George to separate the Prince of Wales from the monarch. Christened Charles Philip Arthur George as a baby, the heir to the throne, apparently, also wants to give tributes to his grandfather, King George VI, and great grandfather, King George V.

Prince Charles does not want to be known as King Charles III when he ascends the throne as it is closely associated with his ancestor, King Charles I, who was executed centuries ago for treason. King Charles I's son, King Charles II, also had an unfortunate history when he ruled England during the Great Fire of London.

Former Buckingham Palace press secretary Dickie Arbiter believes that Prince Charles would like to use King George to also honor his grandmother, the Queen Mother, and the wife of King George VI. The heir to the throne was especially close to her and was utterly devastated when she died in 2002.

It is common for ruling monarchs to change their names when they sit on the throne. For instance, King George VI was actually known as Prince Albert in his younger years. Prince Charles' uncle, King Edward VII, was Prince David. Queen Victoria, the Queen's great-great grandmother, was Princess Alexandrina before she became the ruler.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales, recently, had some foreign royal guests at his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire. According to the Romanian royal family's official website, the Crown Princess Margareta, the Custodian of the Crown of Romania, and her husband Prince Radu, had a private meeting with Prince Charles.

According to Hello!, the Romanian royal family and the British royal family are distant cousins. As children, the Crown Princess used to spend some summers with Prince Charles and Princess Anne.

In 2017, the Prince of Wales also flew to Bucharest to attend the funeral of King Michael I, the last King of Romania. He was the cousin of Queen Elizabeth who attended her wedding to Prince Philip.

King Michael forced abdicated in 1947, essentially stripping Romania of a traditional royal family.  Following her father's death, the Crown Princess formally assumed as the Head of the House of Romania.
