iKONICs have taken to social media to express their displeasure over YG Entertainment's decision to scrub iKON's new album I DECIDE of any credits for former leader Kim Hanbin or B.I.
In a trending thread #YGSHAMELESS, fans of iKON expressed disgust over YG Entertainment's latest statement that it will not include B.I in the final credits for the album, So Mag News reported.
According to the agency, it took a long time to release I DECIDE which was recorded in 2019 at the same time that B.I was still the leader of iKON. Fans believed that B.I, who was responsible for some of iKON's biggest hits, composed some of the songs that were included in the mini-album.
However, late last year, B.I was embroiled in allegations of purchasing illegal drugs after a former idol trainee bared chat messages from Kim Hanbin inquiring about how to buy drugs.
YG Entertainment, which was still reeling from a previous scandal with Burning Sun, immediately met with B.I and it was decided that the best option was for the B.I to leave his group and terminate his exclusive contract with YG.
After the album went on sale, fans pointed out that YG did not give any producing credit to Hanbin. However, he was credited for composing all of the mini album's songs, with the exception of one.
"The album exists but the main producer is nowhere in the credits? Just how shameless can you go YG?" fans shared their sentiments on twitter using the #YGSHAMELESS hashtag.
Meanwhile, iKONICS are becoming more emotional with one of the songs in I DECIDE, entitled Flower. According to a report by Koreaboo, it is believed that the song is a tribute to B.I.
With B.I's name included in the composing credits for four of the tracks, the only one composed by Donghyuk, KRDR, and iHwak seems to be dedicated to him by his former members.
The meaningful lyrics "With flowers like you / following the wind that is you / flowing away / scattering away" are familiar with iKON's fans because B.I said something very similar a while back.
In an interview on Weekly Idol, Hanbin previously said: "I want to be reborn as the wind in my next life. It's free. It doesn't have to stay in one spot. It goes wherever it wants to go."
As an independent artist, B.I is reportedly working on new music, which has excited fans even more for his eventual comeback.
