After their 12 years of marriage, Autumn and Peter Phillips recently announced that they are already separating from each other. This comes just a few weeks after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their royal exit to live "financially independent" in both the United Kingdom and Canada.

While the "joint statement" that the couple made shocked the whole world considering that they were in good terms since the start of their marriage in 2008, not to mention the struggles that the Crown has been facing recently, it was noted that the decision to divorce each other was "months in the making." In fact, several publications revealed that the signs were apparent in the last few months of 2019.

According to Hello! magazine, Autumn and Peter Phillips were last seen together in September at the Braemar Games. But, after this joint royal appearance, the couple was never seen again.

They reportedly skipped the Queen's invitation to Sandringham last December, which was fairly strange given that the family was always in attendance. They were also missed by the rest of the Royal Family during the annual Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham.

The publication also revealed that Princess Anne's son went to visit Queen Elizabeth II earlier this year without his wife, which was also deemed to "odd" as they rarely visit members of the Royal Family without the other. Accordingly, many were convinced that their separation started long before they officially announced their divorce.

In a report released by Express UK, it was claimed that Autumn and Peter Phillips' joint statement about the matter was released through a spokesperson. Based on assertions, it was said that the decision to split was the "best course of action," especially for their two kids, Savannah and Isla.

It was further shared that they already "reached" a decision many months ago about their divorce. In terms of the custody of the two children, it was noted that they agreed for a "split custody."

The spokesperson continued to state that the split of the 12-year-married couple was, "although sad," it was an "amicable one." Even so, they will reportedly remain focus on their kids amid the separation.

As per The Sun UK, many individuals were convinced that Autumn and Peter Phillips were likely "inspired" by the Sussexes decision to quit the royal life, notably on Autumn's part since she is a Canadian who has dual citizenship. However, several reports came after revealing that despite the split, Autumn and Peter will remain in Britain, specifically in Gloucestershire, where they have been living for years.
