Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been friends since childhood, long before they starred together in the 1997 classic drama Good Will Hunting. Their Hollywood bromance has been tested over the years. One of which was the allegation that they stopped hanging out together after Ben quit drinking.

About a year ago, Star published a story that Affleck has ditched his pal Damon because he already stopped drinking and has been focusing on his sobriety. The tabloid cited a source at the time that claimed Damon was disappointed that he and the Batman actor can no longer be drinking buddies.

This was allegedly the reason why The Bourne Identity actor opted to hang out with his other close friend, Chris Hemsworth, because the Thor actor supposedly "never turns down a chance to party." The insider added Damon likes to hang out with Hemsworth because he doesn't have to worry about enjoying his beer as compared to when he's with Affleck.

Gossip Cop debunked the claim at the time and stressed that the two remained friends until today. Damon is one of Affleck's friends who supports his sobriety.

A week after the Gone Girl actor had relapsed at a Halloween party last year, Damon gave an update about his pal. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he assured Ben is looking and doing great. Matt added that he and Ben are working on their next project together which is the movie, The Last Duel.

In July 2019, it was announced that Affleck and Damon would co-write and co-star in the period thriller The Last Duel. It was a reunion movie for the two after more than a decade since they did the 1998's Dogma.

The actors have a very tight friendship that no-beer nights could ruin. Their close bond goes back as far as their pre-teen years. Matt and Ben grew up together in a tight-knit community in Massachusetts when Matt was 10 and Ben was just eight years old.

While promoting his Oscar-nominated movie, Ford v Ferrari, at The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, Damon shared the story of how his friendship with Affleck got cemented when they were still young. He revealed that he got into a fight in the 80s and it was Ben who saved him from getting beaten up by another teen.

The two shared a lot of things in common including their first-ever Oscars for Best Original Screenplay for Good Will Hunting. They also shared their mutual love for the Red Sox and once had a joint bank account.
