China's infection toll has subsided over the past few days, raising hopes for the outbreak to finally come to a break, but in other Asian countries, the outbreak appears to be just starting to spread.

Japan Rolls Out Guideline

Japan's health ministry recently released guidelines for people who may be experiencing some symptoms similar to the Wuhan coronavirus, CNN reported. The goal is to prevent chaos that could spur from overloaded hospitals in the country as the infection toll rises.

The guidelines include specific hotlines that people with symptoms can call to find out whether they need to go to the hospital or their symptoms do not identify with the CoViD-19 strain.

The move came after Japan confirmed 606 cases as of Monday. While less than a hundred of the said infected patients are from different locations across the country, 544 of the coronavirus sufferers are from the quarantined Diamond Princess.

So far, Japan reported only one death in the country - an elderly woman who resided in Kanagawa prefecture. Like several other countries in Asia, Japan is only at the early stages of a coronavirus outbreak, unlike China, where the infection rate has been subsiding.

Singapore Allocates Billions to Boost Economy

Singapore has recorded one of the highest infection tolls outside China and the coronavirus outbreak in the city-state has already started hurting business operations.

In response to the crisis, the Singaporean Ministry of Health (MOT) said it will set aside 5.6 billion Singapore dollars or $4.02 billion for the coming year. According to CNBC, deputy prime minister and finance minister Heng Swee Keat noted that the coronavirus outbreak "will certainly impact our economy."

Heng explained during a meeting to discuss the budget that the amount allocated will focus on assisting sectors hard-hit by the outbreak. He said the funding will help companies manage their wage bills effectively while ensuring that they can retain employees.

Specifically, for the battle in containing the fast-spreading virus, Singapore said it will allocate 800 million Singaporean dollars.

As of Monday, Singapore confirmed 77 coronavirus cases, but 24 of the confirmed patients have recovered and have been discharged from medical facilities.

South Korea Confirms 15 New Patients

South Korea announced on Wednesday that 15 new coronavirus cases have been reported, raising the country's total infection toll to 46. Most of the new patients are from a single cluster in Daegu as they are believed to have attended the same church as SoKor's 31st patient.

According to the South China Morning Post, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) revealed the 31st case, a woman in her early 60s, did not travel abroad recently.

The woman's case has since raised concerns on the extent of community transmissions within South Korea. One of the senior government officials working on battling the Wuhan coronavirus, Noh Hong-in, said health experts in SoKor are not closing doors to the possibility.

As of early Wednesday, the country is monitoring 1,030 people for potential CoViD-19 infections. 12 of the people under observation has since been discharged after recovering.

Vietnam Coronavirus Fears Heighten

In Vietnam, fear of the novel coronavirus continues to spread as people run to pharmacies to make surgical mask purchases even at night.

According to Business Insider Nordic's Kate Taylor, who traveled around Asia over the past weeks, a Ho Chi Minh City pharmacy was filled up with people waiting in line for their turn to buy masks.

Amid the crisis, some companies in the country are still taking advantage of the people's fears to make money even though unacceptable methods. A company is now facing hefty fines after it was discovered to have been manufacturing masks out of toilet paper.

In some Vietnamese business facilities, people who weren't wearing masks were prohibited from entering the premises. Some factories have also started implementing the same measures for fear of potential infection.

It remains to be seen how the coronavirus outbreak will turn out in other countries outside China but governments are moving fast to hopefully keep the CoViD-19 strain from spreading further.
