MacGyver season 4 premiered earlier this month on CBS and there are a lot of questions that needed to be answered in the series. One of the most notable ones is what really happened to Mac and Desi's. While they seemed to be working together, it looks like there is a deeper reason why they decided to end their relationship.
In the recent episode of MacGyver season 4, Mac and Desi got back on better terms after doing a mission. The two decided to be friends, and that they'll try to avoid arguments while out in the field together. But even though it's clear where their relationship is right now, it's still unknown why and how they broke up.
Desi now has custody of their parakeet, but that doesn't explain anything about what happened to them. Some speculated the two are just irritating each other while together, causing them to split. Yet, that's also a shallow reason, considering that they've been through a lot. There could be something more, as Mac seems to have remorse over.
The question now is: will they get back together at some point? That could be possible, but CarterMatt noted the producers will likely try to show first what really happened to them and what caused their split. Moreover, Viewers should also know what happened to them in the past to understand what's waiting for them in the future.
While it's good to see Mac and Desi being on the same page again, it's would be nice to see what and how they broke up. Good thing is that MacGyver season 4 has just started, so there's still a lot of time to explore that particular subject. But beyond that, there are also other stories coming this season.
For instance, TV Insider previously reported that Star Trek: Voyager star Jeri Ryan is joining the series' fourth installment. The outlet noted that actress will play the role of Gwendolyn Hayes; someone who has very close ties to Mac.
According to executive producer Peter Lenkov, Ryan's Gwendolyn will have an important role in his life, since she's going to be Mac's aunt. She is her mother's sister and an ex-DXS agent who was presumed dead. Lenkov explained Mac didn't know his aunt existed, but Gwen has been always keeping track of his life in the shadow.
Now, she's the presumed head of Codex; the organization that the Phoenix has been currently hunting. So, even though she has a familiar connection to Mac, there are still problems waiting for all of them -- especially to Mac and his team at the Phoenix Foundation.
MacGyver season 4 airs every Friday night on CBS.
