Prince Harry and Meghan Markle showed anger over Queen Elizabeth II's decision to ban them from using the word royal in their branding. In the Sussexes' official statement on their website, Sussex Royal, they took a dig at Her Majesty, and the Duke of Sussex's biographer hit out at the Duchess of Sussex for the unexpected move.
Nobody expected the Sussexes' new update on their website about their departure from the monarchy. In the post, they seemed to imply that Her Majesty didn't own the word royal.
As royal biographer Angela Levin noticed the subtle dig, she blamed Meghan Markle for it, per Express. As she knew Prince Harry as "charismatic, intuitive, a man with impeccable manners, full of consideration to others," and someone that lights up everything with his presence, she was surprised they could do it.
"What on earth has happened to that, Harry?" Levin said. She questioned why Prince Harry seemed to be siding with his wife over his royal family, including his 93-year-old grandmother, who he loves dearly and has been his rock.
With these changes, Levin feared that Meghan Markle left a "sliver of ice" in Prince Harry's heart. Levin wrote on Daily Mail that there was only one way to understand everything that was happening, including the surprising statement, describing the former Suits star as an impulsive woman.
Based on Meghan Markle's behavior, when she had enough of something or someone, she would just move on. From being a breath of fresh air when she joined the royal family, she seemed to turn into a "gale-force storm." Hence, Levin compared the former actress to The Snow Queen, who put a sliver of ice in a young man's heart like Prince Harry, in Hans Christian Andersen's tale.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's anger can be felt on their post on their website. They noticed how the decision was reached and the different treatment they had compared to other royals, The Guardian noted.
The royal couple pointed out that there is no jurisdiction by the monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of word royal in other countries. However, they would tend to follow the new order.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Instagram account uses the name Sussex Royal, as well as their official website, which was launched when they dropped their bombshell announcement. With the new deal, they have to rebrand both names. Their non-profit organization will also bear a new name as they will stop using Sussex Royal in any territory when they officially leave the monarchy on March 31.
