Rumors about Queen Elizabeth II's abdication started to emerge as far as 2018. This claim continuously arises until today with the giving of highly essential royal roles to the likes of Prince Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. As the two heirs and future kings take in more high-profile activities, it looks like Her Majesty's abdication is coming near.

Royal expert Angela Mollard said on the ROYALS podcast that the Queen gave the Duchess of Cambridge the charity that she patron for the last 65 years - the family action charity. Over six decades of patronage is undeniably a long time. She worked on the cause "very proudly" and visited its place every single year, if not multiple times a year.

"There's so much work we never see when they collate the engagements and look at who's done the most work," she said, via Express. "It's based on when we see them or when they're actually at an event."

Since Queen Elizabeth passed her loving patronage to Kate Middleton, it is not far that there will be more passing of more critical roles in the future. In fact, there are predictions that a lot of members of the Royal Family will be stepping up this year.

It already began with Prince Charles and Prince William, who graced a lot of high-profile events and international trips to the countries that needed more care and attention. The states he visited were the more complex ones with issues about political unrest. As the Duke of Cambridge does more today, it only suggests that he is really "stepping into it."

There are assumptions that Queen Elizabeth will abdicate in a year and let Prince Charles take on her role. Allegedly, when she reaches the age of 95 - she is about to turn 94 this year - she will let her first heir to take over as Prince Regent while she is still alive.

According to The Sun, Queen Elizabeth is the "oldest and longest-serving monarch" after her coronation in 1952 when her father, George VI, died. At the time, she was only 25 years old. She was crowned when she was already 27.

In a book by royal correspondent Robert Jobson, he said Queen Elizabeth is giving the issue "considerable thought." If she is still alive at 95, she will consider passing the reign to Prince Charles. She understands that she is now aging and wants to ensure that the Crown's transition will be seamless when the time comes.
