Princess Diana and Prince Charles' separation proves that they don't have the best of relationship. Their sweet romance ends up in a messy divorce and surprising revelations that lead up from one controversy to another. But even before their parting ways get publicized, there are unearthed photos that reveal they have had misunderstandings even before.

In 1987, six years after their marriage, the unearthed archive photographs of the Prince and Princess of Wales showed the sequence of their vicious public spat. Captured by the photojournalist Kent Gavin, he described the snaps as the People's Princess sitting on the bonnet of her then-husband's loved J reg Ashton Martin. At the time, they attended a polo match at Smiths Lawn, Windsor, after spending a day at Ascot races.

According to Express, the said car was a gift from Queen Elizabeth II for his 21st birthday. However, it ignited a misunderstanding between the former royal couple when Prince Charles snapped at her then-wife to get off the hood.

This photo was just one of the four pictures that Gavin captured on June 16, 1987. In the other three photographs, the heir to the throne could be seen examining the car's body to see if there was any damage. Princess Diana, on the other hand, was trying to hide her smile.

In a report from People Magazine in 1987, the car in question is reportedly the 1970 Aston Martin convertible and worth $80,000 at the time. Today it is said to be around £140,000.

Prince Charles only had the chance to scrutinize his car when the unapologetic Princess Diana dismounted. Fortunately, it had no dent or even scratch. After that, the future king departed to play polo while Princess D rode the car with an innocent smile.

Anyhow, two days later, Prince Charles had a minor accident in Windsor that damaged the car. It resulted in a dent, huge scuff marks, and a large repair bill.

Meanwhile, after Princess Diana's divorce from Prince Charles, she got entangled between numerous tabloid reports and public scrutiny, Reader's Digest noted. To tell her side of the story, she spilled all the details on a series of audiotapes that she gave to her close friend, Dr James Colthurst, who delivered it to the U.K. journalist Andrew Morton.

Princess Diana revealed everything she knew about the Camilla Parker-Bowles scandal, her battle with bulimia, and her suicidal thoughts. Her closest confidantes, on the other hand, worked with Morton to publish the bombshell biography DIANA: Her True Story - In Her Own Words. The author then revealed her participation in the novel after her unexpected death in 1997.
