The follow up to the hit Korean movie Train To Busan has dropped new posters and also gave a hint on when the movie will be available in cinemas. The newly-released posters showed of Peninsula noted that it will hit cinemas in summer 2020.

Peninsula unveiled two new posters that depicted the day and night at the infested peninsula. The "day" poster showed armed Jung Suk (Kang Dong Won) and Min Jung (Lee Jung Hyun) waiting behind an abandoned vehicle for a flock of zombies coming their way. The "night" poster, on the other hand, showed a man walking through an abandoned port while the zombies are just around the corner.

Golden Slumber actor Kang Dong Won leads the cast members. He was joined by Lee Jung Hyun, Kwon Hae Hyo, Kim Min Jae, and Kim Do Yoon. The sequel was directed by Train To Busan PD Yoon Sang Ho.

Peninsula's prequel, Train To Busan, took both the local and international movie industry by storm in 2016. It grossed $93.1 million worldwide. The zombie action movie was starred then by Hallyu actor Gong Yoo, Ma Dong‑Seok, and Jung Yu Mi.

While it's clear that both Seok Woo (Gong Yoo) and Sang Hwa (Ma Dong Seok) got infected in Train To Busan, there are few survivors in the movie. Seek Woo's young daughter Su An (Kim Su An) and pregnant Seong Kyeong (Jung Yu Mi) seemed to have lived after their tragic experience on the train. However, the two don't seem to appear in the Peninsula.

During an earlier interview with ScreenDaily, director Yeon Sang Ho made it clear that Peninsula will not pick up from where Train To Busan left off. Although it has already been called a "sequel" to Train To Busan, Yeon said it is not because Peninsula is not a continuation of the previous story. He said it would take place in the same place but with new characters facing new challenges brought by the zombies.

Peninsula is set four years after the events of Train To Busan. It follows Juk Suk, a soldier who has been sent back to the Korean Peninsula to rescue survivors who remain trapped in the zombie-infected region. In the sequel, the entire peninsula is overrun with the "infected" while a small number of survivors are struggling day by day not to be eaten by the zombies.

Meanwhile, the Peninsula producers are eyeing for a summer release after its premiere in Cannes. The 73rd annual Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to take place from May 12 to 23, 2020.
