Princess Beatrice's wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will finally push through after much of speculations. However, there are questions if Prince Andrew's eldest daughter will ever earn a new title upon marriage. Will Queen Elizabeth II makes her a new duchess?

As a princess, the 31-year-old holds the Her Royal Highness title. But, it may be impossible that she will become a duchess when she gets married. Why?

According to Express, Queen Elizabeth only gives royal titles to the members of the family after their marriage. However, it is not given every after a royal wedding. Princess Bea's sister, Princess Eugenie, didn't even become a duchess when she got married to Jack Brooksbank in 2018.

A royal family member can only become a duke or a duchess through inheritance and the Queen's bestowment. Only the monarch's sons or grandsons can receive the royal dukedoms, the highest-ranking hereditary title, although this tradition seems to be outdated.

So, when Princess Eugenie got married to Brooksbank, she wasn't named a duchess. As a woman, either Princess Beatrice or her sister was able to inherit their father's title as the Duke of York. No royal females are allowed to take the title of a duchess from their dad.

Their mother, Sarah Ferguson, on the other hand, only got her title of Duchess of York when she married Prince Andrew because he is a duke. Although she can still use the title, although they are already divorced, she can only be called as Sarah, Duchess of York.

Although Queen Elizabeth can make an exception to bestow Princess Beatrice, the title of duchess, she and her sister are not full-time working royals. So, it can't be valid.

Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi shared the news of their engagement on Sept. 26, 2019. At the time, they said that they were both excited to begin their new life adventure together and couldn't wait to get married. "We share so many similar interests and values, and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness," they said in a statement, via Town and Country magazine.

Although there were a lot of speculations if their marriage would push through due to Prince Andrew's scandals, the royal family finally confirmed significant details about it. Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's wedding will take place on Friday, May 29, and Queen Elizabeth permits her granddaughter to hold the ceremony at The Chapel Royal, St James's Palace. A private reception will then follow it in the garden of Buckingham Palace.
