Elton John was forced to cancel his concert due to an illness, but it was never life-threatening. There were rumors that the iconic singer was very sick and only had months to live, which were never real at all.

A phony story from a tabloid claimed that the songwriter now uses a wheelchair and has been told to slow down. A so-called insider added that the 72-year-old performer continued with his schedule, believing that he is indestructible, but he could be dead in six months.

This made-up story was based on the fact that Elton John had to cut short his concert in New Zealand due to walking pneumonia. According to BBC, the famed composer lost his voice in the middle of the concert when he was singing "Daniel."

"I've just completely lost my voice. I can't sing. I've got to go. I'm sorry," he told the crowd. The audience then gave the known pianist a standing ovation as he walked off the stage with the help of several assistants.

The fraudulent tipster continued to say that Elton John couldn't get through his set without "huffing and puffing." The report then used his history of drug abuse and partying ways as the reason for his sickness, despite being sober for almost 30 years.

However, Gossip Cop debunked the outrageous claim as the hitmaker resumed his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour in Australia with a show in Melbourne. It was then followed by another two performances in Coffs Harbour.

He also graced the stage of Oscar to accept his Best Original Song award for the movie Rocketman. Aside from that, he has a full year of concerts lined up in North America and Europe to complete his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Farewell Tour. He also has rescheduled concerts in New Zealand to make up for the shortened and canceled shows that he didn't complete.

Elton John's walking pneumonia, or also known as atypical pneumonia, is a type of lung infection caused by bacteria or viruses. Compared to the false report, it is not life-threatening and less severe than other types of pneumonia. Most sufferers don't even require medical attention for this.

Its symptoms are just like the common colds, like coughing, chest pain, sore throat, and headache. Elton John got checked by the medic halfway through his show. Despite his illness, he managed to belt out his classic hits, "Candle in the Wind" and "All the Girls Love Alice."
