Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes are always compared to each other. It is because of many similarities in them. These comparisons sparked feud rumors in the past and continue to do so now.

Justin and Shawn may not be the best of friends, but they are not enemies either. They are mainly compared because they are both from Canada. They are praised for their music, their talent, and good looks.

It is obviously unfair to compare the two when it comes to achievements in the music industry. Bieber has been around for more than a decade now. He has sold over 105 million records worldwide and is one of the world's best selling artists.

Mendes, on the other hand, is basically new in the industry. However, he already achieved a lot at a young age hence he is being compared to his fellow Canadian artist.

There is no feud between the two. In fact, they even showed support to each other. In June 2018, Camilla Cabello's boyfriend talked about how he felt about being compared to the "Yummy" singer.

"When I first started out, everybody was like, 'Oh, how do you feel about being compared to Justin?' I was like, 'What do you mean, how do I feel?' That's the best thing anyone could say to me. He's the man," Mendes said in an interview with ETALK (via Seventeen).

However, some fans still speculate that there is a drama between Justin and Shawn because of the latter's close friendship with Hailey Baldwin. The "Stitches" singer was briefly linked to Baldwin, who is now Justin's wife.

In the 2018 Met Gala, the two also sparked dating rumors after Mendes was seen helping Baldwin. About two months later, Bieber and the model announced their engagement. Mendes revealed that he sent a text to Hailey, congratulating the model on her engagement and upcoming wedding.

But then in July 2018, Bieber was accused of throwing shade on Mendes in his song "No Brainer" with Quavo, DJ Khaled, and Chance The Rapper. Some assumed that a line in the song targeted Mendes.

The "Sorry" singer did not issue a comment on the matter. However, when a fan posted a screenshot of Mendes reacting on one of Baldwin's posts, Bieber came out and defended Hailey's friendship with the 21-year-old "In My Blood" singer.

The alleged feud intensified in April 2019 when Mendes was featured on the cover of The Observer Magazine, where he was dubbed the new "Prince of Pop."

Bieber left a comment on Mendes' Instagram post of the cover. Using some Canadian slang in his comment, he challenged Shawn to a hockey-style brawl. But Justin clarified that there is no competition between him and Shawn and it was just a playful comment. Mendes also laughed at the comment and jokingly welcomed the challenge.
