It has been a big puzzle for the many what will be Camilla Parker-Bowles' title when her husband, Prince Charles, ascends the throne. Clarence House broke its silence and confirmed the Duchess of Cornwall's official name that has been decided since she got married to the Prince of Wales since 2005.

Camilla will not be taking the title of a Queen when the Duke of Cornwall becomes the King. A Clarence House spokesman revealed that the intention is for her to be known as a princess consort when Prince Charles takes the throne.

This move was already announced upon her marriage to the future king in 2005, and there would be no changes at all. According to Express, the decision to make Camilla the queen consort is to avoid public scrutiny due to Princess Diana's death.

Camilla never used the title of Princess of Wales, which Princess Diana was widely known of, and only adapted the name Duchess of Cornwall, following Prince Charles' Duchy state. Her supporters, on the other hand, are hoping that she will have traditional titles due to her growing presence in the royal family.

However, there are reports Prince Charles wants her to have the title of queen consort. Slate explained that princess consort is a new title especially created for Camilla as calling her a queen would cause PR problems for the royals.

In a report by Vanity Fair in 2018, it revealed Camilla would become queen consort, as it is the customary title for the wife of a reigning king. It would also be the same title that Kate Middleton would get when Prince William becomes the king.

In the same year, royal fans were surprised to know that the palace's original announcement about Camilla's princess consort title was removed from Clarence House's official website, along with other details on the site. A spokesperson explained to The Telegraph that the removed questions were not often asked anymore that's why those were gone and the FAQ section was regularly updated.

Meanwhile, Camilla manages to become more prevalent since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back as senior royals. In the YouGov poll made last year, she was the 11th most popular member of the royal family and 8th of the most famous royals. About 29 percent of the poll's total correspondents had positive opinions about Camilla, describing her as "genuine, loyal, and good-humored." However, a third of them had negative comments about her.
