Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their plan to step down as senior royals, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are expected to up their roles in the royal family. However, a royal expert claimed that Prince Charles blocked the two princesses of York to represent Queen Elizabeth II that infuriated their father, Prince Andrew.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl said on True Royalty TV that the treatment of Sarah Ferguson's daughter was "problematic" because the Duke of York himself wanted them to have roles in the royal family to represent Her Majesty. However, she revealed that his brother, the Prince of Wales, allegedly told them that they had to "go and make it on their own" that made him annoyed, Express noted.
Although Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are willing to help their grandmother, they also want to have jobs of their own. "Of course, then you are in a sticky situation, again it's half in half out," Nicholl said.
She then revealed that Prince Charles intervened and said that the two could go and make it on their own. Although Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are happy to do that and doing their works, the future king's statement is said to have a "knockback effect."
As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now in Canada and will no longer perform royal duties, Queen Elizabeth reportedly asked Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice to take on more active roles within the royal family. Daily Mail reported that sources close to the Queen confirmed she wishes to have a new structure.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are considered non-working royals. They don't receive money from the Sovereign Grant and have jobs of their own.
Princess Beatrice, who is about to get married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in May, works in finance and consulting and is currently the Vice President of Partnership and Strategy of the software firm, Afiniti. She is responsible for the management of the company's strategic partnerships and company growth through unique initiatives and client development.
Princess Eugenie, on the other hand, has art history and English literature degree. She is currently working as the director of the London art gallery, Hauser & Wirth. Since she and Princess Beatrice have positions in the private sector, they may not take more royal duties. However, the Crown has yet to announce if they have to give up their jobs if ever they will have new responsibilities.
