Prince William and Prince Harry grew up in the knowledge that they will have different roles under their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. However, as years went on and as the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex have gotten older, their relationship with the Queen also changed.

To Prince Harry, Queen Elizabeth is still pretty much the concerned grandmother. She gave her grandson the assurancethat he and his wife, Meghan Markle, can still return to the royal family despite deciding to give up their royal roles.

To Prince William, however, Queen Elizabeth is not just his granny who doted on him, his brother and cousins when they were kids. She is also Prince William's mentor and their current relationship is apparently more professional than personal that it would seem like he is the Queen's least favorite grandson.

As the second in line to the British throne, after his father Prince Charles, Prince William is destined to become the King of Great Britain one day. Thus, he needs some guidance and training to fulfill his many duties as the ruling monarch.

Because of this, the relationship between Queen Elizabeth and Prince William has been increasingly becoming difficult. Royal author Juliet Rieden shed the light on what's really going on between the grandmother and the grandson.

In a televised interview, Rieden said that Queen Elizabeth has been offloading many of her duties to Prince Charles and Prince William, given her age. In return, the Duke of Cambridge has been doing a lot of heavy lifting in the royal family that his relationship with his grandmother is more like a business than a warm and loving bond compared to Prince Harry.

The difference in the treatment, however, is paying off as Prince William, who was once labeled a reluctant king, can now be counted on to manage many of the Queen's advocacies and charities. Queen Elizabeth has been training Prince William all his life. Now, he has proven himself to be an integral part of the royal family and is advising the Queen in some of her decisions.

It bodes well for Prince William that he also has a supportive wife in Kate Middleton. Together, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have pledged their commitment to help children and young people, mothers, and families, as well as various causes on mental health and conservation.

On top of this, Prince William and Kate are also raising and rearing the future of the monarchy and the legacy of Queen Elizabeth with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
