Piers Morgan had a close relationship with Princess Diana when she was still alive, although they didn't have a good start. With the alleged rift the veteran journalist saw between Prince Harry and Prince William, he knew that their mother could have hated how their relationship turned out. However, before they became close, the Good Morning Britain host had a clash with the People's Princess that she called her "manipulative."

There was a time when the 54-year-old broadcaster and the Princess of Wales clashed, and the initial received a warning to leave her alone. Their stormy relationship began when Piers Morgan was the editor of The Daily Mirror. At the time, his mother asked him to "go a bit easier" on Prince Charles' wife, especially when Princess Diana asked him to meet her.

They had lunch in Kensington Palace, and from here, everything changed. In an interview with LBC last year, Piers Morgan revealed that they always talked, and Princess Diana would even leak stories to him and other editors.

"She spilled her heart out on all sorts of stuff, and after that, we had quite a lot of contact," he said, via Express. Princess Diana would ring her and he, too, would call her. Here, he would ask her what would be the best approach for her stories.

Piers Morgan would also help her out occasionally. "I would do her the odd favor, and in return, she might give us [The Daily Mirror] something, she very much worked with the media," he revealed.

He then described Princess Diana as the media's "most hunted person" but also a manipulative individual who knew how to use the media for her own benefit. She could be a victim and the predator who would take advantage of the press at the same time.

Meanwhile, if Princess Diana is only alive, Piers Morgan knew that she would have hated to see her sons giving each other the cold shoulder, Woman and Home noted. At the recent Commonwealth Day Service, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reunited with Prince William and Kate Middleton for the first time.

However, their reunion was seemed to have a lot of tension, as the two royal brothers didn't even warmly greet each other. Piers Morgan called the get-together "painful" to see, adding that the former Fab Four now hated each other.

If Princess Diana is only alive, Piers Morgan said that she would hate to see how her boys looked so distant. Prince William and Prince Harry didn't even share a handshake or also a small talk at the event.
