Melania Trump will appear to the public in the upcoming ads of the Trump administration about the coronavirus. The public service announcements are set to be broadcast nationally.
The White House has released a statement indicating that it will release several PSAs that will feature the important ways on how the Americans can protect themselves and those most at risk from getting infected and spreading the coronavirus. It is unclear when Melania's PSA will drop.
According to the White House, the coronavirus PSAs will also feature some administration officials that are involved in the U.S. Coronavirus Task Force. So far, they have released the PSAs of President Donald Trump, Surgeon General Jerome Adams, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Dr. Deborah Birx. Broadcasting networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, and more will air the PSAs. Nickelodeon will reportedly create a separate campaign for children.
The release of the PSAs came after the U.S. recorded a death toll of 146 from COVID-19 and the number of confirmed cases rose to 8,000. Americans have already been ordered to stay at their homes. Trump has also announced the deployment of hospital ships in U.S. shores to make up for an anticipated shortage of hospital beds.
Melania Trump's public service announcement will also be released following the backlash FLOTUS has received for urging Americans to find a hobby while staying at home. The First Lady stayed out of public engagement since COVID-19 spread in the U.S. She was last seen in public when she delivered a speech at the national conference of PTA leaders in Virginia earlier this month.
Mrs. Trump also remained mum about the coronavirus crisis in the U.S. until a few days ago. Her first tweet about COVID-19 was on March 12 wherein she shared a link to the official website of the Center For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
On Monday, Melania announced in a statement that the annual Easter Egg Roll would be canceled. The White House also postponed the upcoming state dinner for the King and Queen of Spain next month.
Then the First Lady posted a series of tweets on Tuesday advising the public on what they can do amidst while at home. In one of her posts, she urged the public to "read a book" or "spend time on a hobby."
This sparked outrage from netizens. Many slammed the First Lady for suggesting something that many Americans can't afford to think or do at this time as many were instructed to work from home or are homeschooling their children.
