Seungri may have already enlisted for his mandatory 18-month service in the Korean military but netizens are still not happy about how he escaped charges in the Burning Sun scandal. A confession recently surfaced from a former YG employee who said that Seungri was out partying with his friends before his enlistment.
According to the anonymous YG employee, who posted his statement on YouTube, he spotted Seungri at a club with women before his enlistment.
The YG employee worked for the agency for two years and said that he saw Seungri partying with women in a club around mid-February.
"I thought he would have stayed at home so it was quite surprising. I could tell it was really him because it wasn't crowded. It was a weekday. He seemed like he was doing business with few foreign Asians. He was also hanging out with very attractive friends," the witness said.
It can be recalled that prior to his enlistment, the former BIGBANG member drew criticism over the flamboyant party that his friends threw for him to send him off.
Floods of photos from Seungri's party showed him hanging out without a care amid his indictment in the Burning Sun scandal.
Among those who attended the party were his DJ friends from Natural High Records who gifted him with a cake with candles that read 18 to symbolize his eighteen-month mandatory service.
"Seungri taught me that the laws in Korea are nothing but jokes. I don't need government officials, presidents, or nothing," one netizen angrily remarked.
Seungri also drew criticism for wearing luxury items that cost thousands of dollars to his enlistment. Netizens were outraged to see the controversial Kpop artist decked out in designer labels from head to foot, All Kpop reported.
Seungri reportedly wore Golden Goose 2015 S/S collection which cost some USD$400-$700. His track pants from Mihara Yasuhiro cost almost USD $700 while his G-Shock watch was also not cheap. They cost almost USD $300.
It can be recalled that Seungri, the youngest member of BIGBANG, retired from the entertainment industry last year amid his alleged involvement with the Burning Sun scandal where he was alleged to have procured prostitutes to facilitate dealings with business partners. He was also later charged for illegal gambling in the US and illegal foreign exchange transactions.
However, as he turns 29 years old this year, he was compelled to report for mandatory enlistment. Under the rules, his case will be turned over to the military court. He reported to the ROK army's 6th division recruit training center last March 6.
